Fte̜-mbo Kez (/fte̜/ /mbo/ [cigarette; cigar] [cloud]) is a subtropical Town located in the Qujusukoga Moot of the Viceroyalty of Rosid.

The name Fte̜-mbo Kez is derived from the Wood Elvish language, as Fte̜-mbo Kez was founded by Keindrean Agondren, who was culturaly Wood Elven.

Climate

Fte̜-mbo Kez has a yearly average temperature of 14°C (57°F), with its average temperature during the summer being a pleasant 24°C (75°F) and its average temperature during the winter being a cold 5°C (41°F). Fte̜-mbo Kez receives an average of 231 cm/y (90 in/y) of precipitation, most of which comes in the form of snow during the pleasantly short winter months. Fte̜-mbo Kez covers an area of nearly 4 km2 (1 mi2), and an average elevation of 6678 m (-21040 ft) above sea level.

Overview

Fte̜-mbo Kez was founded durring the late 12th century in fall of the year 1051, by Keindrean Agondren. The establishment of Fte̜-mbo Kez was plagued by a lack of willing colonists. After attempts to pay people to resettle failed Keindrean Agondren struck deals with nearby nations and communities to establish Fte̜-mbo Kez as a prison colony.

Fte̜-mbo Kez was built using the conventions of Wood Elven durring the late 12th century. Naturaly, all settlmentss have their own look to them, and Fte̜-mbo Kez is no diffrent. The town's buildings feature masoned stone construction which prominantly features pointed arches, pointed ribbed vault cielings, flying buttress', and window tracery all of which share a simmilar gemoetetic patern halfway between organic and inorganic in design formaing a very distinct aesthetically integrated style. BUildings tend to reach for the havens, and more expencive homes are easily identified by their floor count as well as the addition of decorative features intigrated into the building's design such as statues, gargoyals, and embelished joinery.

Fte̜-mbo Kez is buildings are arranged arround a single spacious cobblestone mainstreet with many smaller streets branching off of it which gives the town a over all rectangular shape, albit one warped and twisted by the nature of the curves of the main road. The town has a fortified albit thin brick wall. The wall has most of the feeatures of a typical castle wall, just on a much smaller scale and and budget. Notably brick isn't a particuarly soild choice for resisting siege weapons. Fte̜-mbo Kez's wall wouldn't hinder a proper army, but it is more than sufishent for bandits and other small marauding groups. The monster and outlaw focused fortifications have not been wellmaintained over the years, and while functional are in dire need of some loving care and perhapse light renovation.

Fte̜-mbo Kez is not quite well. Something happened here, perhapse recently, perhapse long ago. Whatever it was, it settled into the very soul of the town like a festering wound. The people go about their day well enough, but there’s a tention in the air you can cut with a knife. You get the terrible feeling that whatever it was, the wound it left will simply never heal. This town is as a necropolice.

Civic Infrastructure

Fte̜-mbo Kez has an Office of Civil Vicary, which is responsible for providing a livelyhood for all officialy recognised religious figures within Fte̜-mbo Kez.

Fte̜-mbo Kez has a Gravedigger's Guild, which is responsible for collecting the dead and laying them to rest according to all applicable laws and religious customs.

Fte̜-mbo Kez has a Highwayman's Guild, which is tasked with maintaining the roads and highways leading into town as well as keeping them safe for travelers.

Fte̜-mbo Kez has a monistary of an order of Civil Monks, who provide divine-related services to the general public and maintain Fte̜-mbo Kez's public wards, blessings, and other arcane systems.

Fte̜-mbo Kez possesses an older civil lighting system consisting of street lamps. These lights provide nighttime illumination to most city streets.

Fte̜-mbo Kez has a Parks and Recreation Department, which is responsible for the construction, management, and usage rights for all of its parks and parklands.

Fte̜-mbo Kez has a public schooling program overseen by the Hall of Sages who has the responsibility of ensuring access to affordable high-quality education in all basic classes (Reading, Writing, Mathmatics, General Sciences, General Arcana, and Social Education) is made available to all citizens.

Cultural Notes

Fte̜-mbo Kez's chapel was built using a different architectural style from the rest of the town. The style used is characterized by dynamic designs and complex architectural plan forms; intended to heighten feelings of motion and sensuality, and frequently based on the oval. It made extensive and extreme use of: Grandeur, Contrast, Curves and twists, Rich surface treatments, Gilded statuary, Bright colors, Vividly painted ceilings, Fragmented or deliberately incomplete elements, Large-scale frescoes, Dramatic central projections on an external facade, the use of plaster, stucco, or marble finishing, Illusory effects such as trompe l’oeil, and pear-shaped domes. While beloved by the nobility, the common folk tended to despise the style due to the massive consumption of resources required for even a small building constructed in this style.

Due to the actions of local Kami, autumn is short in Fte̜-mbo Kez.

The Achaierai near Fte̜-mbo Kez are known to be a mutant strain of the creature.

Fte̜-mbo Kez's citizens partake in a curious ritual relating to their local kami. It takes place in summer and involves embarking on a group pilgrimage to channel Chronomancy energies of tier 3 via chanting.

Fte̜-mbo Kez is cursed with recurrent spells of some troublesome disease. The affliction isn’t so fatal as to make living there impossible, but it adds suffering and expense to local lives. The plague might be the product of an ancient curse, the results of long lost toxic remains, or an unavoidable byproduct of whatever industry or purpose justifies the city. It’s probably not overly contagious, but visitors may be in some peril all the same.

History

In time immemorial, reportedly some time during the late 2nd century, Fte̜-mbo Kez was attacked by soldiers from another nation, waging a greater campaign. The details of the conflict are hazy at best due to many conflicting accounts. What is known is Fte̜-mbo Kez lost 160 people, 209 livestock, and 99 buildings. The conflict ended after roughly 123, when members of Fte̜-mbo Kez's militia enacted an operation to defend a particular fortification from enemy attack. The operation was complicated by the enemy setting up an ambush. The conflict ended with the defense of the prison against a siege, which ended in victory for Fte̜-mbo Kez's forces. The war is remembered in legend by Fte̜-mbo Kez's bards, historians, and legend keepers.
